With Coronavirus spreading faster than Usain Bolt in a Championship 100m race, the whole world is looking around trying to find a solution, or a patch to help fight this virulent disease. In some areas, panic is running riot, and in others, people are refusing to acknowledge the virus at all. Either way, we know that keeping strong and healthy means that we need to be on the lookout for ways to combat the spread of this virus, especially in Winter when flu season also seems to peak.

With this, some researchers have turned back to nature to try and see how it combats this problem and whether there is a plausible solution we have overlooked.

Enter the growing use of Ozone as a purifier and sanitising agent. Ozone is enriched oxygen and is nature’s own powerful purifier, and one of the most beneficial substances on the planet. It is constantly around us purifying water and air, decomposing fungi and bacteria, and revitalizing the air. It has been widely used in medical applications for over 100 years.

What is Ozone? Ozone is a naturally occurring gas created from oxygen atoms. The oxygen molecule is made up of 2 oxygen atoms. These oxygen molecules are broken into atoms by the corona discharge during lightning storms or by UV light from the Sun. Single oxygen atoms cannot exist alone without regrouping back into diatomic oxygen molecules. During this recombination stage, some atoms will regroup into loosely bonded tri-atomic oxygen. This new molecule is called Ozone or O3.

Ozone Distribution

So how is Ozone distributed? Simple and effective ways to deploy ozone gas or liquids are:

  • By walking through an ozonated Tunnel, or
  • By spraying ozonated water or air onto a surface.

Application of Ozone in Air

The application or deployment of Ozone in the air is carried out the Corona Discharge (CD) method or Ultra Violet (UV) method. Our systems use the CD method which has proven to be a higher production concentration and therefore has higher effectiveness.

Ozone deodorizes by a process of oxidation permanently converting odour into water vapour which makes it a safe and viable alternative to traditional chemical methods. Only very small quantities of ozone are required to achieve high levels of deodorization and disinfection, and the Ozone is itself used up during the oxidation process.

It breaks down micro-organisms by breaking apart their protein structure. Ozone treatment systems destroy organic odours and kill bacteria and viruses without using any chemicals. As a result, the applications for these products are varied. Ozone kills bacteria, mould spores and germs at least 15 times faster than any other commercially available biocide. It also destroys ethylene gas, the natural off-gas ripening agent from vegetables and plants that cause spoilage, thus enhancing the shelf life substantially. All this, without leaving a chemical trail.

Ozone Air Cleaning systems

There are three units that we offer for the generation of Ozone via an air unit. These units are:

The Portable Air Cleaner

This portable air cleaner treatment system is for normal indoor spaces such as homes and offices. It is compact and portable and can easily be moved to different locations in homes, offices, apartments, motel rooms, dorm rooms and recreational vehicles.

Small air and spa unit

The ENBF 2000 Air Purifier

This is a fixed air cleaner treatment system used for larger indoor spaces.

The MZBF 2000 Natural Air Purifier with Variable Control

The MZBF 2000 is for bars, hospitals, restaurants and heavily used areas.

When cleanliness and sanitation need to be accomplished fast, this highly powerful air cleaner and purification system will do the job for all tough medical applications when sanitation is essential. Used in doctors’ offices, hospitals, kennels, motel rooms, medical surgery rooms, or veterinary clinics to sterilize all areas of mould, bacterial and viral contamination. The MZBF 2000 has a durable stainless steel enclosure that is available in 120 or 220 volts.

Ozone offers a variety of benefits:

  1. Deodorization of a large range of nuisance odours, including food, animal, plant, sewage, garbage and smoke odours.
  2. Disinfection or sterilization of micro-organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, fungus, moulds, mildew, algae, including pathogenic germs.
  3. Control of airborne micro particulates.
  4. Slower spoilage rates and increased shelf life for fruit, fish, poultry and cut flowers.
  5. Faster growth rates for plants and livestock, such as chickens and pigs, by providing a cleaner, healthier environment.
  6. Control of small pests.

If you are wanting to protect your loved ones at home, your staff at the office or in the plant, or visitors who are entering your professional space, it is good to know that there is an alternative to eradicating viruses and bacteria with no long term side effects.
