Enter the growing use of Ozone as a purifier and sanitising agent. Ozone is enriched oxygen and is nature’s own powerful purifier, and one of the most beneficial substances on the planet. What is Ozone? Ozone is a naturally occurring gas created from oxygen atoms. The oxygen molecule is made up of 2 oxygen atoms. These oxygen molecules are broken into atoms by the corona discharge during lightning storms or by UV light from the Sun. Single oxygen atoms cannot exist alone without regrouping back into diatomic oxygen molecules. During this recombination stage, some atoms will regroup into loosely bonded tri-atomic oxygen. This new molecule is called Ozone or O3.
So how is Ozone distributed? Simple and effective ways to deploy ozone gas or liquids are:
- By walking through an ozonated Tunnel, or
- By spraying ozonated water or air onto a surface.
Application of Ozone in Air
The application or deployment of Ozone in the air is carried out the Corona Discharge (CD) method or Ultra Violet (UV) method. Our systems use the CD method which has proven to be a higher production concentration and therefore has higher effectiveness.
Ozone deodorizes by a process of oxidation permanently converting odour into water vapour which makes it a safe and viable alternative to traditional chemical methods. Only very small quantities of ozone are required to achieve high levels of deodorization and disinfection, and the Ozone is itself used up during the oxidation process.
It breaks down micro-organisms by breaking apart their protein structure. Ozone treatment systems destroy organic odours and kill bacteria and viruses without using any chemicals. As a result, the applications for these products are varied. Ozone kills bacteria, mould spores and germs at least 15 times faster than any other commercially available biocide. It also destroys ethylene gas, the natural off-gas ripening agent from vegetables and plants that cause spoilage, thus enhancing the shelf life substantially. All this, without leaving a chemical trail.
